Events

ALL EVENTS CURRENTLY POSTPONED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC.
Please keep an eye on this page, or follow us on social media (Facebook and Instagram) to find out when we’re able to meet again.

We normally meet on the second Tuesday of each month.  All events take place at Toscanaccio, Parchment Street, Winchester, Hampshire, UK unless stated.

April – Eat the Rainbow – POSTPONED

Hampshire will celebrating Pride in April so we’re celebrating diversity with our Eat the Rainbow event.  Bakers are encouraged to produce rainbow or brightly coloured bakes, which can be sweet or savoury.  It could be a time to get creative with food colourings, or to experiment with naturally bright colours and foods.

It’s not a competition, just bring along a bake to share and sample everyone else’s creations.

A variety of alcoholic, soft and hot drinks are available for purchase on the night.

NOTE – In a slight change to our usual meeting schedule, in April we are meeting on the first Tuesday of the month, not the second.

May – Wartime Bakes and Victory in Europe – POSTPONED

We’ll have just enjoyed a long weekend marking the 75th anniversary of VE Day and the conclusion of the Second World War, so this month we’re taking inspiration from wartime recipes.  Shortages and rationing made bakers very creative back then, whether it was baking with unusual ingredients (vegetables in cakes for example) or just being frugal with ingredients.

Show us what you can do with limited ingredients or make a bake to celebrate the return of peacetime.

Everyone welcome whether home cook or professional chef; it’s not competitive.  Just bring a bake and enjoy tasting what everyone else has made.  New members always welcome and bakes can be either sweet or savoury.

Toscanaccio’s offer a range of wines, beers, hot and soft drinks for purchase on the night.

June – Boozy Bakes – POSTPONED
Winchester will be celebrating Winchester Cocktail Week in June so we’re getting into the spirit (get it?!) with this month’s theme of Boozy Bakes.  Maybe you’ll go for something like a Gin and Tonic Drizzle Cake, or put Beef & Beer in a pie – maybe you’ll seek inspiration from your own top tipple.  Whatever it is, come along and share the fun.

All welcome.  It’s not a competition, just a chance to eat lovely food and enjoy the company of your fellow bakers.  Bring your bake to share – it can be sweet or savoury.

Drinks are available to purchase on the night.
